The Hired Man, New Perspectives Theatre,
Quarndon Village Hall

The
Hired Man show (on 3rd October 2007) played to a sell-out audience and
finished with a standing ovation, what a fantastic show! Unusually due to
space restrictions, New Perspectives reversed the normal layout and staged
the show on their mobile set at the back of the hall with additional seating on
the stage, our first experience of large-scale theatre in the round at
Quarndon Village Hall. Thanks to all QUADS members concerned who helped with running the
bar, marshalling our guests for the evening and tidying up afterwards (until
after 1am!).
QUADS/TEQ Christmas Cabaret Night
Saturday 15th December 2007, Quarndon Village Hall, 7.30pm
This
is a joint event, run by QUADS and Team Events - Quarndon (TEQ) and will be
a "Good Old Days" music hall style show similar to the very popular event
two years ago. QUADS members and friends from Quarndon and beyond will be
performing turns, some musical, some comical with maybe some drama thrown in
for good measure.
We already have some acts
volunteering, but if you’d like to become a stand up comic for a night, read
from a favourite tome, sing, make music, dance or recite poetry please get
in touch with the organiser Tony Glover (01332
550603 or 07976 559905).
As far as drink and food are
concerned – bring your own of the former, and we’ll have an “American
Supper” for the latter – basically a bring and share buffet. Look forward to
seeing you there – book early to avoid disappointment! Tickets
are just £5 (tel 01332 550603) including a
free raffle with prizes provided by Team Events -
Quarndon.
The Opera Dudes – “A Life of Organised Croon”
Friday 18th January 2008, Quarndon Village Hall, 8pm
This
sparky duo are from very different backgrounds: a posh former Cambridge
scholar who has teamed up with an ex-builder, both turned operatic tenors.
Tim Lole and Neil Allen combine their
musical and vocal pedigrees with great humour and
charm. As well as their terrific singing, the show
includes their life stories, funny tales, a few surprise
impersonations, a concert piano solo and a silly piano duet in the style of
Morecambe and Wise!
There's a great variety of music from Puccini to Elvis Presley and Dean
Martin via Rachmaninov and Donald Duck! A wonderful evening of "classical
cabaret" which will have you in stitches!
“I’m not really into opera but these
guys were great!” Rick
Parfitt (Status Quo)
“The best entertainment we have had
in thirty-six years!"
Peterborough Masonic Lodge
