Welcome to the website of
Sophie
Snell
Writer,
Storyteller and Artist.
Based in Quarndon, Derbyshire,
Sophie writes for children and adults. Her work reflects a love of
pacey story-telling, the beauty of our environment and man's intricate connection to
nature.

"Storytelling in schools"
An engaging and lively performer, she
entertains both children and adults through storytelling and performance readings
and leads school workshops that focus on creativity through the
medium of stories and poetry.
Her repertoire ranges from her own
original material to the familiar nursery tales and
rhymes loved especially by the very young and traditional
stories for all ages. She specialises in the themes of pirate
adventures, dragons, Christmas tales, ghosts
and other ghoulish, supernatural stories.
But will happily turn pen, research eye and voice to special commissions
according to client wishes (e.g. a recent request for environmentally themed
tales).

love of pirates, the sea and the vibrant, wild landscape of Cornwall.
Sophie's second audio book
story CD is The Dragon's Christmas.
It is
a collection of stories and poems to charm and delight
both young and old. Witty and poignant, this is perfect
bedtime listening for children who love Christmas.

high-flying finance executive, she undertakes journalistic and
corporate commissions as well as her works of fiction.
Paintings
Sophie's
work as an artist is also show-cased here. With a particular interest
in abstracts and semi-abstract landscapes, Sophie works in acrylic,
watercolour and multi-media, using colour and texture to express shape,
light and the dynamics of emotion. "My aim is to evoke memories and
emotional responses through each painting, to arouse the viewer's curiosity
or simply celebrate colour and form."
See her on line gallery
at the Paintings page.
Live
& Local
Sophie is a voluntary
promoter for Live & Local - part of
the National Rural Touring Scheme. "This is an absolutely
brilliant scheme! There is the most amazing range of talented creativ
e
performers out there – and to have the opportunity
to bring them to our village is fantastic. Since we started to host
shows in our village, we have had enormous fun!"
